Merlin MRP Factory 9  Assembly Costing

1: Select the Assembly you wish to Cost.

Assembly Costing is another fantastic time-saver that this MRP System has to offer.

Merlin will drill right down to the bottom of the Subassembly tree, then work its way back up, Costing each Subassembly as it goes, so that it is correctly valued in the BoM for its Parent Assembly.  Then the cost of the Materials and Manufacturing Processes for assembly each are calculated and updated, giving a comprehensive Costing for the Top-level Assembly and the Subassemblies, which are then written back to their respective Resources Record Cards.

At the top left of the panel is the Next Step notelet, which will lead you through the process.

From the drop-down box select the Assembly you want to Cost.   Remember, if you click the down-arrow first and then type the first few characters of the Assembly No. you will get ever-closet to finding it on the list.

When you are ready, click the DO IT! button.

This takes you to Step 2.

Now you see the Subassembly List for the Assembly you selected, just one in this case.  Click OK and Merlin will drill down and list the Materials required for the subassemblies one by one and present you with the Proposed New Costing for each in turn, along with the Old Costing, and the markup or margin to be applied if you have elected to specify this in Set Parameters.

Click OK and proceed to Step 3.

3:  Update the Cost of Subassemblies.

Now you see the Proposed New Costing for the bottom-most subassembly in the tree, along with the Old Costing, and the markup or Margin to be applied if you have elected to specify a profit-margin in Set Parameters.  This process will be repeated automatically for each assembly in the tree, working upwards until the top-level assembly is reached, when you will see the screen below.

This takes you to Step 4.
